Occupational Safety Health and Welfare


The main objective of this occupational health and safety course is to introduce students to the potential hazards and possible potential occupational diseases which they may encounter on the job. It also informs them about the importance of personal protection, the work station and tool design. The students are introduced to International and National agencies in charge of the health and safety of workers. They are also taught the importance of having check lists, carrying out inspections and writing accident reports. The topics include: History Of Occupational Health & Safety, Barbados and Occupational Health & Safety, Hazards At Work, Noise and Vibration, Personal Protection, and Fire & Fire Prevention.







                            

This course provides prospective cosmetologists with a wide range of design skills needed to enhance their technical skills and aesthetic appeal of their salons.  Participants study the elements and principles of design as they relate to the history and development of hairstyles, creative hair design, basic interior design and advertisements.  The course culminates with a hair show and other expositions relating topics studied during the course.
