This course is designed to familiarise students with the fundamentals of microeconomic theory. The knowledge acquired will enable students to continue their education and contribute to the economic and social development of the Caribbean region.

 This course is designed to improve the numeric and literacy skills of participants so that their application to bookkeeping and accounting should be relevant and clear.  On successful completion, the participants should be ready for the world of work where they can clearly, methodically and rationally explain and apply accounting principles.  They should further be able to assess, interpret and make decisions – appropriate to each level of work – concerning the financial position of a business.    The approach used throughout should blend theoretical with practical. 

This course will provide the student with an overview of the fundamental theories and principles of organizational behaviour and illustrate how these theories are translated into practice within organizations. It will demonstrate the importance of understanding behaviour at the individual, the group, and the organizational levels when managing organizations.

In addition the course will provide the student with an understanding of how people behave in the context of an organizational structure. Having a greater knowledge of human behaviour should provide a better understanding of attitudes and behaviours of people at work - co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and clients.

This course provides students with a basic understanding of the role and functions of a manager and an introduction to several theories and techniques they use to establish and accomplish organisational objectives.
