This course is for beginners to animation as it relates to animation and graphic design. This course provides students the fundamental skills to produce traditional animation and the knowledge of the principles of animation to be built upon for advanced animation. Students can also apply skills learned in this class in other areas including motion graphics, stop motion and computer generated animation. Emphasis on examination of concepts, characters and storyboards for basic animation production, creating movement and expression utilizing traditional or electronically generated image.

This course is compulsory for all learners of the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology. It is designed to sensitise learners to the importance of communication and expose them to the fundamental skills necessary for interacting effectively, at a personal level and professional level. Emphasis is placed on developing the critical practical skills necessary to produce clear, professional standard documents for work purposes utilizing available technologies.
Learners are required to prepare a Portfolio containing evidence of assessments undertaken. This will be a useful and important reference tool for the world of work.
Learners who successfully complete this course may also have the option of pursuing the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council’s Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) in Core Skills: Communication, Level 1.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
From this course, the student will develop their skills in the application of productive and design software by using word processing software to create common documents, to produce properly structured and formatted business documents and using spreadsheet software to perform a variety of financial tasks The areas of ICT and their application to industry will also be studied.
