Business communication has evolved into a central business process, which plays a vital role in organizational success because the efficient and effective delivery of business processes depends upon the appropriate use of media of communication. This course focuses on a theoretical framework as well as practical application of communication concepts. Oral presentations, using multi-media tools will be stressed. Speaking writing and listening skills in the context of critical thinking will be emphasized.
This course provides students with a general understanding Contract law examining their essential characteristics and operation of Contractual Agreements. The law relating rights and obligations of purchasers and sellers as provided under the Sale of Goods Act 1895 and the Hire Purchase Act are also explored. An examination is also made of the legal basis of businesses such as partnerships and companies, the legality of negotiable instruments as well as issues relating to VAT are also examined.
Students are attached to a business organization by the College. The organization is not obligated to pay the student during the period of attachment. Payment is at the discretion of the company. The company shall make a report on the student evaluation form supplied by the College. The student shall write a report on their experience during the period of the attachment. The company’s evaluation and the student’s report will be the basis for grading the attachment.
Human Resource management has grown in importance because of a shift to a services –oriented global economy. Human capital plays a key role in creating and sustaining competitive advantage for business organizations. As a result, this course will expose students to the important activities of people management such as the evolution and stages of human resource management, strategic human resource planning, recruitment and selection, training and development recruitment and selection, compensation management, performance appraisal, job analysis and job evaluation and industrial relations.
This introductory course is for students of Economics, Accounts and related disciplines. It introduces the theory of matrices, sequences and series and their applications. The course also introduces students to the modeling of mathematical problems using differentiation and integration as well as correlation and regression.
This course, Principles of Management, introduces students to basic concepts in management theory and practices and lays the foundation for success in more advanced courses in management. The founding fathers of management theory are examined. The primary focus is on understanding the functions of management – planning, leading, organizing and controlling.

The dynamic global economy of the 21st century demands that strategic planning be a requisite system-wide activity in the quest for business success in both commercial and non-commercial organizations. This course examines three main categories of strategies: corporate, competitive and functional. The different types of strategic tools of analysis; S.W.O.T., competitive, company industry, portfolio and knowledge analysis are emphasized. A critical component of this exposure will be the production of a business plan for a new business.
