• Modulation-DQPSK, QAM, COFDM, effective radiated
power(ERP) and single- frequency network(SFN)
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
On completion of this unit the student should be able to:
1. State the three types of modulation used in digital TV broadcasting
namely differential quadrature phase shift keying (DQPSK) for satellite, quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) for cable and coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (COFDM) for terrestrial digital TV transmission
2. Explain DQPSK. QAM and COFDM
3. Explain effective radiated power (ERP)
4. State advantages of single frequency networks
