This course seeks to familiarise the student with the fundamental concepts and applications of Electronics. The following topics are covered thoroughly: The common emitter amplifier using NPN and PNP bipolar junction transistors- thermal runaway, D.C stabilization, biasing, cut off and saturation, ac operation, coupling, decoupling, bandwidth, R-C coupled amplifier, the load line, transformer coupling, power dissipation. Common base and common collector amplifiers. Photoelectric devices. Field-effect transistors. Diode and Thyristor characteristics. R-C filters, clippers and clampers. IF amplifiers, power amplifiers. Feedback in amplifiers. The operational amplifier. Multi-vibrators and timers. Oscillators. Integrated circuits.
