This course is designed to enhance the practical skills of the trainees by applying research based decisions to well defined instructional or operational problems.
Traditionally, the practicum has been seen as an invaluable and integral component of teacher education programmes. This practice teaching experience is intended to provide trainees with the opportunity to see the relevance of their academic knowledge, by applying their practical skills in a learning environment, under the guidance of an effective supervisor/mentor.
The rationale for integrating theoretical knowledge with practical skills is consistent with the objectives, of the project/practicum; however, the traditional model is modified to include an applied research component. The reason for the change is to recognize the fact that the current trainees have many years of classroom experience.
