This course is designed to introduce students to a study of the composition and chemistry of living things at the molecular level. Biochemistry includes the study of concepts such as biological buffers, nucleotides, amino acids, proteins, enzymes, lipids, carbohydrates and metabolism. Mastering the basics of chemistry is essential to an understanding of biological processes and events. This course will explore how and why biological molecules are designed in the manner in which they are and how biological processes work together to ensure that biological function is possible.
