This course provides an introduction to hydrographic, geologic and seismic surveying practices.  It briefly examines the physical features of the marine environment as these relate to eco sounding and marine datums and construction at sea.  Principles, techniques and instruments used for geologic and seismic surveying are presented and illustrated with reference to gullies and subterranean waterways in Barbados.  Students will be exposed to geologic mapping, position fixing and measurement as these relate to water resources.  They will also utilize the knowledge and appreciations gained in these areas to discuss the economic exploitation and preservation of gullies, beaches and other water related environmental resources.
