This program caters to persons seventeen years and older who are interested in pursuing studies designed to provide the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to provide basic nursing care for older adults. The program focuses on the basic theory and practice of nursing with supporting courses that introduce participants to Nutrition and Diet therapy, HIV & AIDS, Drug Awareness, Food Preparation, Computer Awareness and other disciplines pertinent to current issues facing the older adult. It also provides participants with opportunities for personal enrichment and strengthening of their social and interpersonal skills; additionally, participants are required to complete 180 hours of clinical attachment in health care institutions that offer care to older adults.
