This course provides an introduction to teaching in an aquatic environment.  Students gain proficiency in swimming and water safety. This course aims to demonstrate to students the importance of gaining competence in functioning in the water and show the benefits of movements in an environment in which the effect of gravity on movement is reduced.  The technical and biomechanical aspects of propulsion of the body through water are explored.  Additionally, emphasis is placed on teaching the key skills needed for sale and successful functioning in the environment which surrounds the country of Barbados.  The value of swimming for recreation and competition is highlighted.
