This is an introductory course to the fundamentals of Medical Laboratory Technology as a science, and as a profession. Students will be exposed to the roles and functions of the Medical Laboratory Technologist, the professional ethics and code of conduct, which they must adhere to.
There will be an introduction to the concepts, principles and practices of laboratory safety, which will be in preparation for the theoretical and practical sessions in phlebotomy, urine and semen analysis. This combination of theoretical and practical components is designed to enhance the students’ laboratory skills, critical thinking, powers of observation and knowledge.
