This course is designed to provide the student with the fundamental knowledge of nutrients and their importance to man as a bio-psychosocial being.  It focuses on the nutritional status and requirements of the healthy individual throughout the life cycle.  It examines the role of the nurse and nutritional agencies in community health care.  It is also intended to introduce the student to the essentials of nutritional therapy, and to urge them to espouse and promote proper eating for the prevention of illness through sound nutrition practices.
