Introduction:
Welcome to the PAST 301 INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW
This course equips students with an understanding of the law concerning Intellectual Property. The various types of rights protection are examined including trademarks, copyrights and patents. Other Related Rights are also outlined including Geographical Indications and Industrial Designs. Further, an examination of the processes of registration of such rights and the various laws, treaties and conventions that relate to the topic is provided.
It comprises ALL course work as follows:
- Assignments (drawn from a combination of essay and scenario formats)
- Research Project
- Mid-Term Assessment
Materials for the course will be mainly those which are compiled and uploaded to your online platform.
- The final pass mark for this course is 60%
You are also encouraged to read widely from related texts, periodicals, journals, articles, cases and legislation whether online or hard copy.
You are required to be present at 80% of your class sessions unless permission is otherwise given.
Classes are interactive and it is expected that your participation will be active.
