COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of basic epidemiology and infection control principles, concepts, and procedures, as well as their application to healthcare. It will focus on the natural history of communicable diseases as well as the application of infection control to reduce the incidence of diseases. It will guide the identification of the sources of data, the use of the appropriate measures for calculations, the analysis and interpretation of data and the application of findings to infection prevention and control. It will also enable the utilisation of the epidemiological approach within the context of delivering public health care and adherence to Local, Regional, and International Public Health rules and regulations.
