This course focuses on the salient features of technical writing and emphasizes the value of technical writing in our modern, technological age. While highlighting the prerequisites of good technical report writing, the course reinforces the importance of factual information and sound research methods. Furthermore, this course stresses clarity, precision, conciseness and specialized terminology as vital components of the technical style.
This course is an introduction to all the design elements needed for various performance spaces, period styles and genres. The pre-rehearsal, rehearsal and post rehearsal roles of designers in scene and property construction, costume and make-up, lighting and sound are examined. Students will be involved in practical/experimental work with properties, costume, make-up, lighting and sound, based on a major text.
