This course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of the hardware components of the computer system. It also introduces students to some techniques used in troubleshooting hardware, software and basic network systems. Students will be equipped to recognize and resolve problems with the hardware, software and peripheral devices.
The course presents an introduction to the basic harmonic structures such as triads and seventh chords through their use in jazz, classical and popular music. The course will also introduce melodic analysis and composition utilizing these chords.

The course covers tensions, secondary dominants, substitute dominants, chord scales, blues, modulations, modal interchange and reharmonisation techniques. These concepts will be applied to a variety of music wherever possible. Harmonic devices such as figured bass, cliché lines and voice leading are also introduced.
