This course provides an understanding of the legal nature of wills and other testamentary dispositions. The legal formalities of making a will and the requisite testamentary capacity are also examined. Issues related to revocation, alterations and revival of wills are also highlighted together with the drafting and construction of wills. A knowledge of the law relating to distribution on intestacy, dependents, the legal status of the testator’s spouse and disinheritance as provided under the Succession Act is also provided. Further, the procedural steps leading to a grant of probate or administration are examined.
