COURSE DESCRIPTION
During this introductory clerkship, the students are assigned to a community pharmacy where they practice the roles of the pharmacist in the delivery of health care services. This experience allows students to work closely with the assigned preceptor to develop skills in dispensing, prescription processing, patient counselling and effective communication with physicians and other members of the health care team. Emphasis is on learning how to ensure patient medication safety by understanding the process of preparing and distributing medication, collecting and analyzing relevant patient information, and providing guidance regarding medication administration and monitoring. Students are therefore required to apply concepts from the didactic courses taken in the first three years of the program to the patient care process
