This course is mainly a hands-on course which encourages students to use the computer as a tool in the process of communication and design. It is designed to provide the students with the basic knowledge of the Computer Hardware and Software within the various computer applications, particularly using the Microsoft Office Suite. It is also intended to provide them with the basic skills necessary for the preparation of papers, reports, creating charts and graphic outlines, publications and presentations. Students will also be taught how to evaluate internet resources as they gather and disseminate information.

This introductory research methods course is intended for BCC students as their first introduction to basic research methodology, proposal writing, data analysis and report writing. The goal is to produce a "user-friendly", highly accessible, and straightforward introduction to research methods couched within the quantitative and qualitative traditions of research. It seeks to promote an enthusiastic and knowledgeable interest in research by helping students to become familiar with the language, tools and purposes of research. The course examines qualitative and quantitative approaches to the research process and also guides students in examining strategies for research, its utilization and dissemination in their study discipline or their area of special interest.
