This course introduces GIS and covers the basics of this newly emerging science from a foundation of Geography. The scope of the field is examined and the critical underlying issues are highlighted in the context of the learned principles. Topics include Data modelling/management, input and editing, analysis as students become familiar with specific applications software.
This course builds on Geographic Information Systems I. It moves students towards further development of critical thinking skills required for this field. Students use current software as they apply Computer methods for handling spatial data. Data quality issues, human and organisational issues and GIS project management are explored.
This course introduces the student to the study of gerontology. It is designed to focus the student on the needs of the elderly in states of adaptation and mal-adaptation. It highlights the basic needs of the elderly and specifies nursing interventions that may be necessary to maintain and promote adaptation. It also focuses on factors that disrupt biological and psychological needs, based on actual and potential health problems of the elderly in a variety of environments and health care delivery systems. It utilizes the Nursing Process in order to develop the related nursing skills.
