Course Description: The Basic First Aids Skills Course is designed to equip students with the requisite knowledge and skills needed to deliver emergency care and provide basic lifesaving first aid.
This will enable them to recognize certain signs and symptoms of an injury or illness and deliver the appropriate care to the casualty. They will be taught how to identify and treat selected medical, respiratory, and circulatory conditions.
Furthermore, the importance and role of a first aider at a multi or mass casualty event will be emphasized. Additionally, they will be introduced to basic disaster preparedness such as preparing a first aid kit, and handling mass or multi-casualty incidents. Examples are motor vehicle collisions, fires, and possible injuries that can occur on the job. The First Aid protocols relating to assisting a casualty in the Covid-19 environment with be discussed.

This course covers the concepts of jazz improvisation and focuses on the skills required to
improvise. Scales and modes are used as a primary source of creative ideas. Strategies for
practicing improvisation are also introduced.
