This course is designed to introduce the students to the field of Sport Management. Students will be made aware of the career options available in the Sport Management profession and learn about types of skills, abilities and knowledge required by sports managers in managing amateur or professional sport programmes, organizing events, marketing sporting goods or designing athletic or physical education programmes. All course material and class discussions will emphasize both the understanding and application of key concept across various aspects of the sport industry.
This course introduces students to spreadsheet management techniques, including creating, modifying, and performing operations on a spreadsheet. Students will be introduced to aspects such as functions, charting and working with macros.
It also introduces students to the fundamentals of a database management system (DBMS). Students will learn how to create a database, tables, forms, reports, labels and queries. They will also learn how to link tables and index records. Students will be exposed to relational database concepts such as relations, data validation, data integrity.

The course provides a concise overview of the real estate industry in Barbados. It also examines marketing and valuations as they relate to the professional scope of real estate sales. It focuses on the theoretical and practical components, in order to assist participants to apply classroom concepts to on the job situations.
This course introduces the topic of abstract data types. Students will solve problems using the most common abstract data structures: lists, stacks, queues, trees, and hash tables. Students will apply their knowledge by designing and implementing programs which use existing classes. Classic algorithms will be examined.

Emphasis will be placed on the applications by insurers and pension plans. Benefits of all types of insurance will be addressed. Cash value of life insurance and mortality impact of same will be examined, as well as liability incurred from damage or destroyed property. Attention will be paid to underwriting and other basic insurance functions as well as to the aspect of finance. The course also covers evaluation cost and income. Legal, tax considerations, financial constraints, physical and location implications will also be visited.
This course provides an assessment of the forces underlying conflict and co-operation in the international system. The focus is on specific problems and the foreign policies of the major powers.
This course is designed to introduce students to the principles of irrigation and the various systems of application of water. It also focuses on the factors that affect the design and implementation of the various systems and the management of the systems. Factors that affect the availability of water and the quality of water for irrigation are also discussed. At the end of the classroom sessions, the practical components are enhanced in the field during an attachment session.
