This course is designed to extract the practical application from the theoretical modules and relate these to the practice of Community Mental Health nursing. It will enable students to integrate theory and practice thereby facilitating narrowing of the theory-practice gap. The focus of this course will be as follows:
Community Health Nursing, Social Psychology, The Human Life Span – Development Adaptation and Change I. Childhood and Adolescence, Interpersonal Relationships and Counselling, Adult Learning, Health Promotion and Applied Research Methodology. In addition, the course will address other topics related to Community Mental Health Nursing practice.

This course explores the patho-physiological rationale of drug therapy and problems associated with the use of drugs in disease states. It highlights the role of the pharmacist in therapeutics. Areas covered include the therapy of cardiovascular, neurological, hematological, metabolic, endocrine, respiratory, neurologic and ophthalmic conditions.
Therapeutics II is a continuation of Therapeutics I and further explores the patho- physiological rationale of drug therapy and problems associated with the use of drugs in disease states. The role of the pharmacist in therapeutics is highlighted. Areas covered include the therapy of gastroenterology, rheumatic, oncologic and infectious diseases.
This is a general introductory course to lay the groundwork for further study of Thermodynamics and Material Science. Some of the topics covered are thermometers and temperature scales, heat capacity, latent heat, internal energy, gas laws and the equation of state, kinetic theory of gases, first law of thermodynamics, transfer of thermal energy, density, pressure in fluids, deformation of solids and Young’s modulus.
This course introduces the concept of three phase generators and loads. The j and 120 operators, along with Millman’s theorem, phasor diagrams and other analysis tools are used to solve circuit problems involving current, voltage and power in unbalanced loads. Graphs and phasor diagrams are developed. Blondell’s theorem is stated and utilised. Concepts of networks and the solutions of network problems are dealt with. Two-port network properties are explored and a model of transmission line is developed.
Theories, construction and operation of DC and AC motors and generators are introduced. Self-excited and separately excited DC generators are described along with their graphical characteristics. Series, shunt and compound would motors’ speed characteristics, load currents and applications are derived. Calculations of the various motors’ parameters are made to effect solutions to problems. Brief descriptive and quantitative treatments of the operation, speed characteristics and applications of synchronous and induction motors and generators are given. Their equivalent models developed. Calculations of the machine parameters are made.

Thiscourse facilitates the development of aural comprehension and oral comunnication using material, in Spanish, from varied sources on topics of interest to young people. Emphasis will be placed on the reinforcement of language structures, vocabulary and idiom used in FRNH 170.
This course is a folow-up tp FRNH 160. Emphasis will be placed on accuracy and alertness in comprehending and on oral fluency in the target language when using more difficult structures and varied vocabulary related to specified topics. This course will also provide reinforcement for language structures, vocabulary and idiom used in FRNH 171
This course is a follow-up to FRNH 161. In addition to greater flexibility, creativity and variety of expression when using the target language orally with more complex topics, the course will emphasise more detailed comprehension of the spoken word. This course also provides reinforcement for language and skills in FRNH 230.
This course is a follow-up to FRNH 220. it emphasises the attainment of higher level skills of analysis, synthesis and evalution in comprehending and speaking the target language while extending the students' knowledge og complex issues. This course also provides reinforcement for language and skills used in FRNH 231.
