The course provides an introduction to Occupational Therapy, its various areas of focus and instructions in the foundation skills of the profession and various treatment modalities.
An introduction to some of the skills used in Occupational Therapy including specific skills used in mental health. O.T. such as embroidery and woodwork. The student is further exposed to specific skills used in physical O.T. such as ranging and splinting.
An introduction to some specific skills used in counselling, behaviour modification and in the management of the psychiatric client. The student is also exposed to the aetiology, diagnoses, and medical management of schizophrenia and affective disorders as well as the interventions used in personality disorders, violence, dementia, suicide and the poly drug abuser.
This course provides the student with the basic principles of administration and supervision. It includes the responsibility for the supervision of general cleanliness. Students are trained in the reception of patients, arranging appointments, filing and maintenance of patient’s records correspondence, management of the recall system, store keeping and ordering supplies.
This course highlights the complexities of the employee life cycle. It focuses on the processes that govern the human resource factors of business, and explores interactions in business.
This course focuses on the introduction of office layouts and the various characteristics of offices (e.g.) ventilation, health and safety. Students are introduced to reception techniques, written and oral communication, appointment scheduling, banking and mailing, filing and introduction to records management and organizing meetings. The student uses the medical office practice kit to gain experience in the various duties, which are associated with a doctor’s office.
This course introduces students to the basic theory and practice in Offset Lithography. You will learn how to operate and use printing presses and equipment in accordance to health and safety standards when producing quality documents such as business cards, letterheads, and business forms. This course lays the foundation for higher level studies in the field.
