This course will introduce students to the basic knowledge of (theoretically and practically) service and maintenance of air conditioning systems aboard motor vehicles. It will expose the students to the vapour compression refrigeration theory and the specialised equipment, tools and materials used in the automotive air conditioning industry. The course also equips students with basic specialised skills needed for servicing, replacing and maintaining air conditioning equipment motor vehicles. Safety issues are dealt with as they relate to all topics covered.

This course continues from semester 1 and focuses on various electrical devices found in the automobile. Students construct circuits with components used in the automobile to enable an understanding of how various components and systems function. Students are taught about the functions of various types of electrical test equipment. Safety is of the upmost importance during this course.
