Students examine the pathophysiology, clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of selected disease states. Emphasis is placed on infectious diseases, renal, immunologic,
rheumatologic and psychiatric disorders.
Students apply the pharmacology of previously studied drugs to patients with the aforementioned conditions. This focus will be achieved by analyzing patient cases as outlined in the casebook and making guideline-based recommendations for therapy.

This course will expose students to medical and surgical information on the etiology, signs and symptoms, medical tests, diagnosis/differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, medical, surgical and rehabilitative therapy management for the following conditions: cerebral palsy, spina bifida, hydrocephalus, muscular dystrophy, down's syndrome, attention deficit disorder, mental retardation, autism, dyslexia, epilepsy. foetal alcohol syndrome, stoke, head injuries, hemiplegia, paraplegia and tetraplegia.
