This introductory
language course provides students with the language skills and the social and
cultural awareness needed to develop oral proficiency at the beginners’ level.
The course will enable students to use Spanish to function in social and
business contexts common to the specialized areas of study for which the
foreign language programme is designed. The course focuses primarily on the oral-aural
registers but also provides reading comprehension and limited writing
(note-taking) exposure.

This second course in the Oral Communication for the Office programme
continues to develop oral proficiency in areas common to the business
environment. Students learn to use the foreign language to describe the

This is an intensive course designed to further develop the students' confidence in communicating with Spanish-speaking guests in situations occurring mainly at the reception desk and in other parts of a hotel in a Caribbean setting. It further develops fluency in the use of simple language required for giving information concerning rates, conditions of stay, services and attractions of the hotel. It continues to develop speed, pronunciation and intonation, and to address aural comprehension of a limited range in the language commonly used by native speakers in the context of the hospitality industry.

This course focuses on the hematologic study of the red blood cells, their morphological characteristics, composition and function. Students also examine the immunological processes associated with the red blood cells in normal and pathological states.
This course entails an in-depth study of the immunological defense mechanisms of the body. Students explore the theories and concepts of immunology as these relate to the antigens and the formation of antibodies in an immune response. The role of the complement system and the serological techniques used in the laboratory to determine an abnormal state are also examined.

This course, focuses on the leucocytes, relative to their morphological characteristics, composition and function, on the thrombocytes in haemostasis and on the coagulation cascade. Students also examine the pathological conditions associated with the bone marrow in myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic states and coagulation dysfunction.
